Reflections On The 2012 Summer Internship Program

Time does fly. We are in week ten of the Cleveland Foundation’s 2012 summer internship program and I have three reflections to share. First, this year’s class is a smart, capable and likeable bunch.

Second, they have made an impact on their host site organizations. Some of the projects include the ambitious 60 blogs in 60 days at New Avenues to Independence, to working with Business Volunteers Unlimited and 300 other young professionals for Summer of Service to assisting LEEDCo with its branding effort to implementing a bicycle route plan for City of Shaker Heights. This is just a sample of the work of this cohort.

Finally, like a strong sports team, a strong city needs a strong bench. This is Cleveland’s (future and current) talent pool and they are ready to engage.
