Interns and Host Organizations
Michael Cook, Jr., a graduate student at Cleveland State University, was placed at Slavic Village Development, a nonprofit community development corporation serving the North and South Broadway neighborhoods of Cleveland.
Mansi Desai, a graduate student at Case Western Reserve University, was placed at Adult Guardianship Services, an organization that enhances the quality of life of indigent, incompetent adults in Cuyahoga County by providing legal guardians to serve as concerned, caring advocates and surrogate decision-making.
Maura Garven, a junior at Georgetown University, was placed at the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission, whose mission is to measurably enhance the economy, image, and quality of life in the Greater Cleveland community by attracting and creating significant sporting events and activities.
Carolyn Heine, recent graduate of Case Western Reserve University, was placed at Community Partnership for Arts and Culture (CPAC), a nonprofit arts and culture service agency dedicated to Northeast Ohio’s success by preserving and advancing its arts and culture sector. CPAC works to provide and promote the regions’ cultural assets’ extraordinary contributions to the economy, education, and quality of life.
Brandon Henneman, a senior at Cleveland State University, was placed at Policy Matters Ohio, a nonprofit policy research institute founded in 2000 dedicated to examining issues that matter to working families in Ohio.
Lisa Hunt, a senior at Cleveland State University, was placed at the Rainey Institute, which is dedicated to social change for Cleveland’s economically disadvantaged youth through education and participation in the performing and visual arts.
Jafeen Ilmudeen, a graduate student at Case Western Reserve University, was placed at Shaker Family Center, an early childhood and family support center whose mission is to provide programs, resources, and opportunities to engage and support families in raising young children.
Jennifer Kennedy, a graduate student at Case Western Reserve University, was placed at the Diabetes Association of Greater Cleveland, an organization dedicated to serving the community as an advocate in the management, prevention, and cure of diabetes.
Robert Mattaline, a graduate student at John Carroll University, was placed at Opera Cleveland, an organization committed to presenting staged productions and related educational activities of opera and musical theater works of the highest artistic quality for the widest possible audiences of Northeast Ohio.
Ellen Murphy, a recent graduate of Cleveland State University, was placed at Environmental Health Watch, an organization that helps devise, assess, demonstrate, and promote programs to prevent and reduce exposures to harmful substances indoors and outdoors that cause or aggravate serious health conditions.
Uloma Ogba, a graduate student at Purdue University, was placed at Buckeye Area Development Corporation, whose mission is to plan, organize, and coordinate resources and activities that will empower the community at large to enhance the quality of life through positive revitalization, stabilization, and growth in the Buckeye area.
Kara Stearns-Porter, a graduate student at Case Western Reserve University, was placed at the Cleveland Rape Crisis Center, an organization dedicated to serving survivors of sexual violence and those who support them with free comprehensive healing and advocacy services and to creating social change in the community through education, training, and activism.
Kyle Poyar, a sophomore at Brown University, was placed at the City of Cleveland’s Sustainability Program, a program that focuses on efforts to: save energy; develop green building and high performance building standards for municipal facilities; create bicycle facilities; reduce waste and increase recycling; and cultivate renewable energy and advanced energy opportunities.
Jason Russell, a graduate student at Cleveland State University, was placed at Cuyahoga Community College, whose mission is to provide high-quality, accessible, and affordable educational opportunities and services including university transfer, technical and lifelong learning programs that promote individual development and improve the overall quality of life.
Dana Bruck-Segal, a sophomore at Vassar College, was placed at Linking Employment, Abilities and Potential (LEAP). This organization serves to empower individuals with disabilities in making significant life choices and changes to enhance their employment and living opportunities.
