Arts and Culture Grants
Recent arts and culture-related grants made by the Cleveland Foundation include:
-
$2 million to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum to support the building of a permanent library and archive. As part of its educational mission, the museum aims to become the premier international source for research on the discipline of rock and roll music. The foundation believes that a library and archive are essential for the Rock Hall to achieve that goal.
-
$750,000 to the Great Lakes Theater Festival to bolster its capital campaign to renovate the Hanna Theater on East 14th Street. Among the planned renovations are reducing the theater’s seating capacity, improving its stage, and creating a professional space more appropriate for many of the community’s smaller performing arts organizations.
-
$200,000 to the Beck Center for the Arts in Lakewood for strategic operating support. The grant is recoverable, meaning it will be repaid to the foundation over the course of four years. The Beck Center is the West Side’s oldest major cultural organization.
-
$150,000 to support SmART in the City, a summer arts and education program for Cleveland Metropolitan School District fifth- and sixth-graders.
