Stephanie Tubbs Jones Memorial Scholarship

Purpose: This scholarship fund was established in 2008 following the passing of the Honorable Stephanie Tubbs Jones, former U.S. congresswoman serving the 11th Congressional District and a native of Cleveland. Begun by family and friends of the highly regarded congresswoman, the scholarship fund is envisioned to provide financial support for graduating high school seniors from the Cleveland Metropolitan School District.

Eligibility:
• High school senior from the Cleveland Metropolitan School District

• Minimum 2.6 GPA

• Enrolled or enrolling full-time in an accredited nonprofit educational institution, pursuing a baccalaureate degree

• Financial need

• Be attending/planning to attend an accredited nonprofit educational institution

Selection Process: Award decisions will be based on the completed application, commitment to academic achievement, a well-rounded background including community service activities and team or work experiences, motivation and financial need.

Award Info: The annual award amount will be based on the performance of the fund and number of applicants selected. Past awards have been for $1,000. Formal notification of award will be made by College Now to the selected recipient(s). Awards will be paid directly to the institution and must be applied to tuition, fees, books, supplies and/or equipment required for coursework.

Awarded Student Requirements:
1. Maintain full-time enrollment status

2. Maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA and demonstrate a progressive cumulative GPA each year

Renewal: This award has historically been renewable for a maximum of 4 years support provided the student meets the scholarship requirements and funding remains available.
