- Donor Advised Funds
Donor advised funds at the Cleveland Foundation offer a powerful way for passionate individuals to create a lasting impact through philanthropy. By establishing a fund, donors actively engage in grantmaking to the causes and organizations they care about most.
With the guidance and expertise of Cleveland Foundation staff, donors gain a deeper understanding of our vision for a vibrant Northeast Ohio where no Clevelander is left behind and how their generosity can drive meaningful change. Together, we will create a legacy of giving that transforms lives and strengthens our community for generations to come.
Establishing a Donor Advised Fund
Contributions
Contributions to a DAF can be made in cash, publicly-traded stocks or a variety of other complex assets that your professional advisor may recommend you transfer directly to the Cleveland Foundation.
You may receive an income tax charitable deduction for the full amount of your gift in the year of the contribution, subject to appropriate tax deduction limitations.
You can make additional contributions to your donor advised fund in any amount, at any time. Others may also contribute, perhaps to mark a special occasion or support a special project that interests you.
Managing Your Fund
Throughout your lifetime, you may advise on the grantmaking activities of your DAF. You also may designate your spouse or partner, your child, another member of your family, or a friend as an advisor to your fund.
