Birthing Beautiful Communities’ mission is to reduce infant and maternal mortality by providing culturally specific, holistic support to Black mothers and families. They train and employ community-based doulas to deliver care, advocacy, and resources that address social, economic, and systemic barriers. Empowering women, strengthening families, and creating healthier communities.

Through support from the Cleveland Foundation, BBC began their pilot program in Hough, where the infant mortality rate was nearly 4 times the national rate. This support helped BBC build a platform to recruit, train, and hire women from neighborhoods most affected by infant mortality to join its mission.
