The Cleveland Foundation board and staff authorized $9.5 million in grants to 95 local organizations in Q3. These grants represent investments in long-term community priorities as well as support of immediate community needs.

"We know that to make change, we need to take a short- and long-term approach to grantmaking and impact," said Joyce Pan Huang, chief impact officer, Cleveland Foundation. "Our Cleveland Foundation Impact Agenda guides our work by being responsive to the community while making investments that will help create a vibrant Northeast Ohio where no Clevelander is left behind."

Grantmaking in the third quarter included more than 30 grants for Organizational Sustainability and Leadership, aimed at providing resources to sustain and strengthen the business models of local nonprofits.

"One of our priorities is helping local non-profits build up the capabilities they need to be successful in their impactful day-to-day work and also be sustainable so they can continue to serve the community for years to come," said Huang. "These grants include supporting new business models, training and development, modernizing systems, and strategic planning efforts to prepare organizations for the future."

For long-term impact, priorities center around three pillars: Growing our Region, Investing in Vibrant Neighborhoods and Connecting People to Prosperity. "All three pillars are aimed at bettering the lives of our residents now, and for generations to come," said Huang. "This quarter, our investments supported organizations working to increase the pipeline of workers for the region's manufacturing sector as well as working with residents on the skills and knowledge to build and retain wealth."
