How I Spent My Summer: Mireille (Claryce) Medard

zBlog Mireille (Claryce) Medard Intern 2013This summer, I am interning at International Partners in Mission. IPM connects donors with project partners around the world that are working with children, youth, and women. Although I get the chance to participate in all departmental meetings and learn about what they do, the focus of my internship is education and outreach. I compile and update documents such as the immersion handbook for program participants. This project helps me understand the social and political background of the countries where IPM operates and the reality that the women, youth, and children IPM works with face. I also translate annual reports for IPM partners in Latin-America and the Caribbean from Spanish to English. Translating documents helps me gain a more complete picture of IPM partners’ work – their successes, challenges along with their short- and long-term goals.

Aside from office work, I participate in several networking events and other social gatherings. These events, along with the weekly professional development seminars, give me the opportunity to see what Cleveland has to offer. I am really enjoying my time here and am looking forward to making more memories before my internship is over!

Each week we use this space to give each of our interns a chance to reflect on their internship experiences. Claryce is a student at  Wheaton College. Placement: International Partners in Mission
