2016 Grantmaking in Lake & Geauga Counties

We are happy to announce a total of $741,781 in fourth-quarter grants to Lake and Geauga nonprofit organizations, bringing the foundation’s 2016 grantmaking total in those two counties to $2.5 million.*

Among the Lake and Geauga grants approved this quarter:

$73,000 to Crossroads: Lake County Adolescent Counseling Service to support continued collaborative work between Crossroads and Beacon Health.
$55,000 to Lake County Educational Service Center, the county board of education, for implementation of the Lake and Geauga Counties Manufacturing/K-12 Partnership.
$48,000 to Lake County Free Clinic, the sole provider of free medical and dental services in Lake, Geauga and Ashtabula counties, to expand services.
$65,000 to Lake-Geauga Habitat for Humanity to continue the organization’s expansion efforts in Lake County (pictured in top image).
$57,000 to Lakeland Foundation to support the development of an Anchor Institution strategy for Lake and Geauga counties.
$88,400 to United Way of Geauga County’s successful Geauga Income Collaborative to help vulnerable families achieve self-sufficiency.

We’ve supported nonprofits in Lake and Geauga counties for over 25 years. This year we announced new grantmaking opportunities in Lake and Geauga as part of our work to better connect these communities to our monthly grantmaking cycle.

We also held two Fred Talks this year to explore our longstanding support and future grantmaking plans in Lake and Geauga counties, and hear directly from the communities about their unique priorities and needs.

Here are a few highlights from the $2.5 million we granted in 2016 to Lake and Geauga nonprofits:

$200,000 to Fine Arts Association Willoughby for the second phase of the center’s expansion project.
$25,000 to Chardon Tomorrow to help fund ADA accessible outdoor fitness equipment at the Chardon Living Memorial Park.
$196,725 to the Cleveland Rape Crisis Center to help the organization build and sustain capacity to serve Lake, Geauga and Cuyahoga Counties.
$59,000 to Painesville City Local School District to support their Elm Street Family Resource Center, which helps Painesville families meet basic needs in order to improve student academic success.
