#CommonGroundCLE Conversations: Cleveland Council on World Affairs

Our #CommonGroundCLE Conversations guest blog series showcases groups across Cuyahoga County hosting community conversations July 30 as part of our Common Ground initiative. Find out what the Cleveland Council on World Affairs (CCWA) is planning in this guest blog from the organization:

Join the Cleveland Council on World Affairs (CCWA) for a Common Ground lunch discussion from 1 -3 p.m. on Sunday, July 30 in the Syrian Culture Garden. Our conversation will take an internationally-centered approach to the overarching theme of all Common Ground affiliated events: What can we do together to create a more equitable and resilient community?

We will address how together we can build a stronger, more internationally-minded Cleveland, what an internationally-minded Cleveland means to Clevelanders, and how can being more international benefit our community. We will discuss how we can build a stronger, more internationally-minded Cleveland together, what an internationally-minded Cleveland means to Clevelanders, and how being more international can benefit our community.

CCWA looks forward to attracting a diverse group of participants, each of whom will bring unique ideas related to our internationally-minded discussion. It is in this setting—sharing Middle Eastern cuisine at small tables—that our participants will have the opportunity to exchange ideas and find common ground.

Since 1923, CCWA has been the premier organization in the Northeast Ohio region educating, inspiring and engaging local citizens in international affairs and the critical global issues of our time. CCWA’s mission is to inspire engagement in international affairs and world cultures through education, citizen diplomacy and public dialogue.

Through our work in the community and our Common Ground conversation, we hope that Clevelanders will be inspired to learn about the world and broaden their global perspectives. Building awareness and understanding of other cultures and countries and engaging in dialogue on topics of international significance can only contribute to Common Ground’s goal of creating a more equitable and resilient community. We encourage all Clevelanders to join our conversation and connect with our organization.

CCWA’s Common Ground Event will be held on Sunday, July 30, 2017 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Syrian Culture Garden. Parking is available on the west (southbound) side of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and East Blvd. Registration is limited to 32 participants.
